Tierra Atacama was created by the Purcell family, also owners and operators for more than 50 years of Ski Portillo, famous in Chile for its excellent ski center and its warm hospitality. As in Portillo, Tierra Atacama offers its guests experiences that combine outdoor adventure and sports, with a utmost comfort, hospitality and excellent service. The atmosphere is casual and friendly, making guests feel at home. Renowned Chilean professionals designed the architecture, interior, and the SPA, in order to preserve the influence of local culture while creating an atmosphere that allows guests to relax and enjoy the good life in this unique setting.
In a prime location, only a 15min walk from San Pedro village, the hotel offers unobstructed views of the beautiful Licancabur volcano, and a memorable sunset every day, from any part of the hotel.
From the very start, one of the strongest values of Tierra Atacama has been the protection of the environment. The hotel seeks to provide the best adventure services and spa with minimal nature impact. The landscaping aims to preserve local vegetation and trees, and emphasize agriculture with seasonal crops such as maize, quinoa, figs and other fruits, vegetables and herbs. All these products are used in the hotel restaurant, which supports agriculture students from the local university and helps protect the heritage of the indigenous peoples in the region. By doing all of this, Tierra Atacama successfully promotes sustainable tourism, using the greatest amount of local resources as possible.
Located in Chile, Atacama is a unique and complete nature destination: beautiful rivers, large canyons, lakes, geysers, salt flats dotted with flamingo birds, sand dunes and natural hot springs. The Andes, Domeyko and Sal mountain ranges glorify the region with its snow-covered peaks. From Tierra Atacama you can visit more than 8 neighboring volcanoes, one of which is still active! Breathe in the clean and refreshing air and enjoy the unparalleled desert sky, with its unique lighting, and the stars filling every space, putting on a real nature spectacle.
